This temporary little gem of an exhibition invites the visitor into the Japanese arts of Ikebana & Bonsai.
Ancient objects and knowledge along with temporary workshops.
We created an integrated structure, a visible grid of black stained wooden strips, based on the way tatami traditional standards informs spaces. There’s also a nod to shoji, Japanese rice paper walls and doors, thus enabling surfaces for text and images, wallpapers, colour scheme, materials and of course the objects from the collection, as well as from contemporary Ikebana and Bonsai artisans, on display.
The grid of Ikebana & Bonsai, structuring the contemporary exhibition.
A colour scheme of green, beiges, and graphic black and white serves as a natural foundation.
The grid enables a structure for both graphic, images as well as materials and objects on display.
